Writing

I love writing and welcome the opportunity to share what I know with your readers.

My very first published writing was at age 14, to the Psychotherapy Networker magazine. I was sitting in my dad's office when he threw me the magazine and said, "this is about your people." It was a dark cover of three or four rebelious looking teens. I read the magazine and was offended, sad, frustrated, annoyed. Here was another portrayl of the "bad teenagers" made public. I wrote a letter to the editor explaing how they should cover the GOOD things teens do and the positive actions they make.

The second published writing, much to my annoyance, was on a plane heading to Scotland for the summer in college. My dad insisted I had to write a response since they finally published a new issue with the positive side of teenage-life.

Fast forward several years and now "that editor" is Rich Simon, the amazing writing coach for my two articles. And when I edit my father's Psychology Today blogs, he has become impressed and says I'm a lot like Rich with fantastic feedback. Life always comes full circle.
